The prints on view are from three exhibition exchanges Zea Mays Printmaking did with printmaking studios in Cornwall, England, Trefeglwys, Wales and Galway, Ireland. These exchanges are part of a greater connection Zea Mays Printmaking is building with other non-toxic studios around the world and this exhibition is a unique opportunity to view the work of international artists working within them.

Rachel Gugler, monotype, 2011September 9, 2011 - September 30, 2011Reception: Sep 9, 6pm - 9pmThis exhibition showcases both the work of Janine Gugler and her daughter Rachel Gugler, a member of Zea Mays Printmaking. Janine’s pieces featured in this exhibition were largely created in 1987 while developing viscosity printmaking at William Hayter’s Atelier 17 in Paris. They are lithographs and viscosity prints. Rachel’s new works on view are monotypes using collograph, collage, and etching; and like her mother Rachel utilizes viscosity printmaking techniques.

Anita S. Hunt, intaglio on birch bark, 2011July 14, 2011 - August 22, 2011The Gallery at Zea Mays Printmaking presents a very special exhibition: Prints on Alternative Surfaces. This exhibition challenges the idea of a print on paper, showcasing works made on non-traditional surfaces by Ali Osborn, Lilliana Pereira, Carolyn Webb, Maya Malachowski Bajak, Anita S. Hunt, Tekla McInerney, Stan Sherer and Wendy Ketchum. The exhibition features works in etching, relief, photopolymer and monotype on unique surfaces such as birch bark, clay-board, aluminum and cotton fabric.
